Join Cool Travel Iceland for a day tour of Reykjanes Peninsula and its magnificent sights. These private tours can begin from your accommodations in Reykjavik or straight from Keflavik Airport upon arrival. Depending on your arrival and departure times, you might even be able to tour the Reykjanes Peninsula on a layover!
We highly recommend visiting Reykjanes Peninsula to start off your Iceland adventure. You’ll be completely in awe of the landscape and stunning sights along the way.
If you have more than one day in Iceland, we suggest a custom Iceland tour so we can craft the perfect itinerary based on your interests and your schedule. Always feel free to contact us with any questions about your visit to Iceland!
By taking a private tour of Reykjanes Peninsula, you can maximize your time and fit everything within your own schedule. Your pick-up time will be according to your arrival at KEF or based on your own preferences if you’re staying in Reykjavik. Please note that the tour must be done during daylight hours, which vary by season.
Leaving from Reykjavik, your Reykjanes tour begins as you drive alongside Kleifarvatn Lake. Marvel at the mountains and lava surrounding the lake and stop for an amazing 360-degree view. Our next stop will be at the Seltun geothermal area in Krisuvik, and then onwards to Grænavatn (or Green Lake), a volcanic crater that got its name from its unusual green color.
Throughout our Reykjanes tour, we travel through varying landscapes, including muddy soils and moss-covered lava fields. We’ll continue on to Gunnuhver geothermal sight, Reykjanesviti lighthouse, and our final stop is the bridge between two continents. This is where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are continuously drifting apart due to great forces under the gaping rifts.
If you start your tour of Rekyjanes from Keflavik Airport instead, the itinerary will be in reverse.
In either case, we will then head back to your accommodation in Reykjavik or to the airport.
